About Our Program

At Nordquist-Taylor Dance, our mission is to empower today’s teenagers with the timeless skills of respect through partner dance, fostering a foundation of confidence, etiquette, and grace that will serve them throughout their lives.

We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to develop essential social and interpersonal skills in a supportive and inclusive environment. Through our program, we aim to:

  • Cultivate Confidence: We inspire teens to believe in themselves and their abilities, helping them navigate social situations with poise and self-assurance.
  • Promote Respect: We instill a deep sense of respect for oneself and others, fostering empathy, kindness, and inclusivity in all interactions.
  • Nurture Grace: We teach the art of graceful movement, encouraging teens to carry themselves with elegance and charm both on and off the dance floor.
  • Build Lifelong Friendships: We provide a platform for teens to connect with like-minded peers, fostering lasting friendships built on shared experiences and mutual respect.
  • Celebrate Diversity: We embrace diversity in all its forms, creating an environment where teens from different backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and appreciate the richness of our world.
  • Prepare for the Future: We equip teens with valuable life skills that will serve them in various personal and professional settings, enhancing their future opportunities and success.

By combining the timeless traditions of ballroom dance with modern etiquette principles, our program strives to empower the next generation of leaders, equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world. We are committed to creating an atmosphere of growth, creativity, and camaraderie, where every teen can flourish and shine, one dance step at a time.

Our Roots

Our social ballroom dance classes have been in Sonoma County since the 60’s, teaching over 400 teens weekly at the Santa Rosa Veteran’s Building. You may have heard of us as Burkhart’s and Nordquist’s, and now the Taylor’s have stepped in as the owners and teachers and can’t wait to show your teen what this Sonoma County staple is all about. Classes meet weekly on Tuesday nights October through March at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building.

We welcome each new student with one free lesson. So parents bring your teens to the first Tuesday night class On October 3rd and let them see for themselves how much fun they can have learning to dance, even all dressed up! They will use this social training for the rest of their lives.

Dances taught: Waltz, East Coast Swing, Night Club 2-Step, Cha Cha, and more!

Meet the Team [of Taylors]

Mr. & Mrs. Taylor
Owners/Instructors

Mr. and Mrs. Taylor met in this very program 15 years ago in High School and quickly fell in love with dance and each other. They continued their dance training with top professionals while competing throughout west coast swing circuit including the US Open. In addition to dance on Tuesday nights, they can frequently be seen teaching dance at schools throughout the county and working privately with adults. They are so honored to take over a program where they can have a positive impact on teens in Sonoma County to teach Ballroom Dance.

Taylor Brandt
Operations Coordinator

Taylor Brandt was part of the Nordquist program for six years including her time as a Junior Instructor, and could be found at West Coast Swing conventions any chance she had. She studied abroad in Spain where she fell in love with Latin Dances, spending every free moment dancing salsa with her friends! She is honored to return to where she fell in love with ballroom dance, and is excited to add another “Taylor” to our dance family! Taylor can be found helping students with their dress code and answering parent questions on Tuesday nights.

Taylor Banfield
DJ

Taylor Banfield is a West Coast Swing dancer, DJ, and instructor. She loves all things dance and music, and has experience in multiple styles of solo and partner dancing. She enjoys traveling the West Coast Swing circuit, dancing and competing at the Allstar level. She also deejays at many national west coast swing conventions and loves setting the tone for the dance floor through music selection. A Texas native, she has loved becoming a part of the Sonoma County community and the Nordquist-Taylor Dance program.
